If you ask why my blog is like a composition, the real purpose of it is because I'm trying to practise my English. Of course it tells about my life like a real blog, but it is more formal in the sense that I barely use singlish and improper English to write a post. It's also important not to use SMS or Chat language too much because if you consistently do that, you'll come to a point where you write it in your school work. Common words such as "You" and "why" will be seen as "U" and "Y" on your homework, and you'll be famous in your class when the teacher decides to show the class your amazing and daring feat to write that in your work.

The Dictionary is a good friend of mine when I'm writing my posts, because my English isn't really that superb and I do check the Thesaurus for synonyms of the word that I'm trying to say, and this widens the range of vocabulary. To a lesser extent, my spelling needs to be corrected sometimes too.

I find that when you're given a worksheet, the hardest and last thing that I always do is to write my Name, Index Number, Class and Date. Also, when this piece of paper is handed out, there will always be someone who asks "What's today's date?". Why can't people get a watch of their own that shows the time and date, because people also frequently ask others for the current time. I should create a group for the part about someone in the class asking for the date when a new worksheet is given out, on Facebook :D. Of course, someone can always do it first. Anyway, I always find it difficult to write my Name, Index Number, Class and Date when a new worksheet comes into my hands, and the sole reason is that I don't like to pick up my pen just to fill in that information. Of course, in the case of Exams, that is the first thing I will do, since we are very time conscious then and cannot afford to waste time. Besides, the invigilator will ask us to write it down just before we start the paper anyway. But it is usually the last thing that I write before that worksheet is handed up, because I will always get it returned with a request to write it from the person who is collecting it, after which I will write it down in front of him as though he is a servant waiting for my permission to allow him to leave with an important document.

This title fits any post, which is why I use it for sort-of-unrelated-to-my-life posts.

On your birthday, if you have a meal that is undecided, fill up that free slot with a trip to Swensen's. If it's dinner, that's great, because Ice Creams are best eaten after Dinner as dessert, and Swensen's is famous for that. And what is even better, is that if you bring identification, you're entitled to a free Ice Cream in Swensen's, specifically the Firehouse, but it's still free. All you have to do is to go there on the day of your birthday, when ordering your meal, show them your identification card to prove that it is your birthday and ask them if you get a free Firehouse for that. Unless they explain why it is otherwise, it will be a yes.

The thing I hate about April's Fools Day, is that when someone asks you to do something or tells you something, you don't know if it's an April Fools joke or a legitimate statement, and moreover is when it's at 12am on the 2nd April and someone tells you something that could be an April Fools Joke, but they were just late by a few minutes. You still can't be sure if it's real. And when you ask them if it IS indeed an April Fools Joke, they'll tell you that it's already the 2nd April. And so it's sad for people who are born on 1st April, they get loads of jokes for their birthday present which might not be considered fun to them.

Dealing with anger on the spot is a tough and one of the most frequent challenges in life, most people are guaranteed to go angry once every 2 weeks. When I do get angry, most of the time I cannot control what I say, but recently I've found a way to sustain my cool and shut up so I don't make a fool of myself. And the anger I'm talking about is when two parties are involved in an argument or disagreement.

Firstly, try not to say anything crude and directly offensive. If you do that and the person retorts, you're probably going to get angrier and that will make matters worse. It's just going to backfire on you.

Secondly, DO NOT go for physical contact. It CAN happen if some feel that verbal insults are not enough to hurt the opposition, and no I'm not saying I fight and please don't even have that idea, but it has happened, I have witnessed it and it happens because of intense verbal conflict.

And lastly, the most effective way, is to know that it's meant to happen. Just think that the thing that made you angry has happened, it was meant to be so, you can't do anything about it, focus on the future and know that there are happy times to come. You will always have an enjoyable moment somewhere after a distressful experience, and this may not come until a month later, but there will always be something that will make you happy in the future.

Sleeping positions are important. If your neck is not properly supported, you might find yourself with a stiff neck when you wake up, and it is NOT fun to have a stiff neck. I had one the other day, during my exam, so I couldn't write properly. But no I was not sleeping during the exam, I meant that I had a stiff neck while I was doing the exam, I got it in the morning, and it hurt.

When you wake up in the morning, hear a crack somewhere around your neck and your neck starts to hurt when you move, don't panic, it's just a stiff neck, your spine is not broken or anything, but the bad news is that you're going to suffer that pain for at least 2 hours.

Stiff necks cause your neck to feel pain when you turn beyond a certain range. At the start, you can only move about 5˚ clockwise and counter-clockwise, and this slowly improves over time. It can last up to 3 days, and it hurts a lot when it does. At this stage, you're probably going to feel pain every 20 seconds as you turn your head quite frequently.

When you first get a stiff neck and you're in a car, be prepared to feel pain VERY frequently in your neck, because car rides are bumpy, and bumpy means causing your head to turn, be it up or down, left or right, at that point in time your head cannot handle it

When it does start to improve and you feel yourself able to turn 30˚ both sides quite comfortably, you will still feel very afraid of turning your head because you don't know at which point it might hurt.

In 2 hours you should be able to turn at least 60˚ clockwise and counter-clockwise without any pain

When you can finally turn 90˚ on both sides, you can start to manually handle your neck. Rubbing the back of your neck with your hands will help, then occasionally try to turn beyond that. The pain will be a lot less throbbing compared to when you just got it.

But that's not the end yet. Even when you can turn 140˚ on both sides, you might still not be able to turn your head upwards fully. Continue to rub your neck from time to time.

Stiff necks are really painful when you need to turn your head. And when writing, it's incredibly agonizing because you have to turn your head to read the words you're writing, and when you do, you feel a sharp dose of pain strike the back of your neck, and then you would have to stop writing and possibly cry out (No I didn't). So be sure to have a good pillow that will support your neck high enough when you're sleeping, say at a 20˚ angle. Sleeping without a pillow is fine, but try not to sleep flat. Lean to one side, as lying flat means your neck is straight, and it's going to be straight for at least 6 hours, which could result in a stiff neck.
